Where do you learn Love?

The #1 influence of how people view Love in America is the mass media

Rather than allowing Hollywood to dictate to us what love is and how is works, we need to go to the source of Love Himself.

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1 John 4:18
* This scripture shows us we cannot know real love if we do not know God. 

Paul points out seven excellent characteristics of love and eight acts and attitudes that are totally foreign to our nature.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1 Cor. 13: 4-8

Three myths that can kill any love relationship. You’ll be wise to avoid them.

1. Love is enough:
This is a lie. Love is not enough to hold you together.
Christs love was perfect, but it meant nothing to ME until I entered into this relationship.

We also need: Communication, Trust, Commitment, Respect and the ability to solve problems.

2. Love just happens.

Feelings just happen. Love takes time and love takes work.

Many people enter into relationships with the expectation that, if they find the right person, the relationship will take no work or effort.

3. If you love me, you will _________. (Fill in the blank)

This statement makes love conditional.

God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

If you want to experience TRUE LOVE love that will never fail you,

You must:

1. Know the originator of Love. 1 John 4:18
2. Change the way you define Love. Romans 12:2
3. Commit to live it out. 
4. Pray.  (how many of you pray for you relationship correctly?)
