The Narrow Gate

Enter through the narrow gate; For the gate is wide, and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it.  For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it. Matthew 7:13-14.

The small gate (Jesus) is the entrance to the narrow way, (life surrender to Him)

Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. John 10:7, 9, 11

Getting through the small gate is only half the journey.
* We must walk the narrow road. (His restrictive life)
* The narrow road is called the narrow road for a reason.
* It is restrictive.

And few are those who find it - Why?

Because we think that it finds us while we walk on the broad path.
* God found us
* God saved us.

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field.  Matt 13: 44
The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. Mt 13: 45-46

It is up to us to find the Kingdom.

Seek

Matt 7:7-8 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Jeremiah 29:13-14a You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD

Search

Deut 4:29 But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Thirst

Psalm 42:1-2 As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for thee, O God, for the living God.

Psalm 63:1 My soul thirsts for Thee, my flesh yearns for Thee, in a dry and weary land where there is not water.

The statement that Jesus makes in Matt 7 insinuates that we must WANT it enough to seek, search, and thirst after it.

Let me say this You have as much of God as you WANT.
