Seekers

Matthew 2: 1-12

Seeker:  someone who seeks
Seek:  to go in search or quest of: to try to find or discover by searching or questioning.

Savior seekers:  Those who seek God because they want HIM.
Selfish seeker:  those who seek God for personal gain.

MAGI - Savior Seeker

Hebrews 11:6 says that God rewards those who diligently seeks him.

Diligent - constant in effort to accomplish something; Marked by persevering, painstaking effort.

Diligent seeker:  One who in a constant painstakingly effort searches for something until they find it.

From uncovered manuscripts Brent Landau wrote, Revelation of the Magi: The Lost Tale of the Wise Mens Journey to Bethlehem suggest the Magi were from China.

They traveled over 8000 miles (and back) on camel to find God.
Notice they did all this not FOR something, but to GIVE something.

HEROD - Selfish Seeker

Herod was the complete opposite from the Magi: INACTIVE AND SELFISH

Inactive

* Opposite of diligent: inactive, indifferent, lazy, lethargic, negligent
* He wanted others to find the answer an hand deliver it to him

Herod NEVER DID ENCOUNTER Jesus! 

Selfish
* Selfish:  concerned primarily with ones own interests,
* Herod didnt seek Christ to worship him, he sought him to protect his own interest.

There are many who seek God out for their own interest.

Psalms 27:8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek.

The reality is that those who seek his hand dont get as much as those who seek his face.

What kind of Seeker are you?

I pray that you will choose to diligently seek him and when you find Him you will want nothing but to Worship Him.
