No More Excuses

Jesus tells us a parable of the Wedding Feast / Great Banquet and gives us some insight into some peoples excuses and he also gives us a strong warning of the consequences for our excuses.

Matthew 22:1-14 And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a marriage feast for his son, and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast; but they would not come.

Luke 14: 14-24 I tell you, not one of those men who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.

Jesus is relating being invited to the wedding feast to being invited to be a part of His bride.

Each one invited rsvp d - But they all alike began to make excuses.
1. Bought a field and I must go and see it. (Possessions)
2. Bought oxen and I am on my way to try them out. (Career)
3. I now have a wife, so I cannot come.  (Personal Relationships)

Every excuse had the same message: it is just not convenient for me.

It is sad to say that many people have this mentality.
* I am too young to live for God, I will wait till I’m older
* I am too busy to live for God, I will wait till I have more time to give him
* I want to live my life, I will call on the Lord on my death bed.

Jesus gave a stern warning to those who give Him excuses.

vs 24 I tell you, not one of those men who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.

2 Corinthians 6:1,2 As Gods fellow workers we urge you not to receive Gods grace in vain. For He says: ‘In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

We live our lives one day at a time.
* Yesterday is gone.
* Tomorrow never comes.
* Today is the only day we have, to be saved by the grace of God.

ENOUGH WITH THE EXCUSES!
