Prov. 5:22 The evil deeds of a wicked man ensnare him; the cords of his sin hold him fast.

* Foothold:  a position usable as a base for further advance
* Stronghold: a place that is well defended; fortress

But sin has an alluring element that weakens your ability to control it and it begins to control you.

Romans 7:15-25 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do.

So how do you get free?

1. Bind the strong man Matt. 12:29

Jesus explained that in order to overturn the works and activity of the Devil, we must bind him first.

You must be a believer in order to bind the strongman

2 Cor. 10:4. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.

Acts 19: 13 ...Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you? 

2. Break the Yoke

Isaiah 10:27 ...and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

The anointing the Bible is talking about here is the manifest power of the Holy Spirit.

There are two pivotal words here:
* VIRTUE:  translated dunamis or miraculous power.
* FAITH.
* Exercise your faith and watch God work on your behalf as His anointing breaks every yoke of bondage!

3. You must fill yourself up with the Word.

Matt 12:43-44 The unclean spirit returns to the house it left and the final condition is worse than the first.

Establish the presence of God. Where Satan has been commanded to leave, fill it up with God’s presence.

A stronghold is also a mind set impregnated with hopelessness, which causes us to accept as unchangeable, situations and beliefs contrary to God’s truth about us.

Rom 12:2 Renew you mind, by the word.

Ezra 9:9 Though we are slaves, our God has not deserted us in our bondage.
