Being available is good. Being approachable makes it better!
* The approachability of fathers in the early years of their childrens lives will reduce the number of defense mechanisms their children will erect.

Willing to listen
* Listening carefully is how you gather information about what’s going on in your childs life and head.
* Listening effectively builds strong relationships.
* Listening thoughtfully shows respect.
* Listening is always the first step in solving problems.

A child who is listened to learns how to listen.

Encouraging
“Like a plant needs water children need encouragement.”

Four types of encouraging language to use every day:
1. Focus on effort- It is great to see you trying to....
2. Focus on improvement - You have improved in.....
3. Shows appreciation - Thanks for helping me....
4. Displays confidence - I know you can do this....

Strong
Kids feel safe and always look for their fathers when they need protection.
Children always look to their father to fix everything that is broken.

Obedient to God
Children learn by imitating the behavior of their parents.

Take care what you do in front of your child. It is a true proverb,
He who sins before a child, sins double.

Merciful
Mercy means not getting what we deserve.

When we choose to forgive and not punish our children for their sins, then we are able to teach them how to be forgiving and merciful.
